Seasoned trial lawyer has nearly 40 years of experience, and specializes in wrongful death, personal injury, civil rights and complex criminal defense cases.

ATLANTA – MARCH 23, 2022 – Hall & Lampros, LLP is proud to announce that highly experienced trial lawyer Akil K. Secret has joined as Of Counsel to deepen the firm’s practice in wrongful death, personal injury, civil rights and major criminal defense matters.

Secret has over four decades of legal experience, and formerly founded and led his own boutique practice for many years. Secret fights for the rights of people who have been injured or killed to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. He recently served as co-counsel alongside Hall & Lampros Co-Founder and Partner Andrew Lampros for the widow of Julian E. Lewis, a Black man who was shot and killed by a Georgia State Patrol trooper in 2020 during an incident that began as a traffic stop made without probable cause.

Secret also has represented criminal defendants in numerous high-profile cases in federal and state court, including corporate executives, accountants, physicians, real estate brokers and other attorneys.

“I have had tremendous respect and admiration for Akil for many years, and we are incredibly proud to have him join our firm as Of Counsel,” Lampros said. “Akil’s expertise in protecting the rights of clients and advocating for those who have been harmed is a valuable asset for our entire team at Hall & Lampros.”

Secret has defended clients in a wide range of criminal and civil matters, including a former Assistant Principal in the Atlanta Public Schools test cheating matter, an Atlanta real estate investor and entrepreneur facing money laundering and drug charges, and a libel and slander lawsuit involving “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.

He also served on the transition team for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis alongside former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and retired National Basketball Association player Shaquille O’Neal. Willis unseated the longtime Fulton DA with more than 70% of the vote in a runoff election, and tasked her transition team with making specific recommendations to improve social justice and criminal justice issues encountered by residents of Fulton County.

“Akil is an esteemed leader in Atlanta’s civic and legal communities, and we welcome his wisdom, his advocacy and his determination to safeguard the rights of clients in complex criminal and civil cases,” said Christopher B. Hall, Co-Founder and Partner of Hall & Lampros.

Secret earned a J.D. from Atlanta Law School, and attended Morehouse College and the University of Nebraska. He has served as Judge Pro Hac Vice in the City Court of Atlanta and City of Atlanta Municipal Court, and Judge Pro Hac Designate in the Superior Court of Fulton County.

Secret is an active member of the NAACP, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and numerous bar associations, civil rights organizations and human rights organizations.
